The aim of this 10 week group is to help individuals understand how low self-confidence may have developed, as well as what is maintaining it in the present. We then move on to teach techniques to help improve self-confidence and self-esteem.
The group uses a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy approach based on Melanie Fennell’s model of low self-esteem. We recommend purchasing the 3 part ‘Overcoming Low self-esteem workbook’ ahead of the sessions to get the most out of the group course.
The group involves focusing on the role of both anxiety and low mood in maintaining our low self confidence, as well as learning skills to overcome anxious and self critical thoughts, we explore additional skills such as assertiveness. As with all CBT approaches you will be expected to complete or practice skills in between sessions so there is a commitment of time and effort.
