What is counselling?
Counselling offers you the opportunity to discuss and reflect on your personal problems. It can involve an exploration of any issues that concern you. The counsellor listens and skilfully assists you to gain insights that will help you overcome the problems. You do not need to have very specific goals at the start of your counselling. Rather, the counselling session is used as a confidential space where you can talk openly and feel supported. Counselling can be particularly useful for bereavement, relationship problems and adjustment to life changes.
